Meet Jessica! Fall 2016 Marketing Intern

Name: Jessica Dentith
Hometown: Bangor, PA
School: Penn State University
Year: Graduated, yikes!
Major: Corporate Communications (Minor in Business)

1. What do you hope to learn during your time at SWB&R?
I’m looking forward to learning the “behind the scenes” processes that go into content development and the strategies used to research/analyze competitors.

2. What made you want to intern at SWB&R?
This summer, I met Ernie Thomas (dubbed E.T.) and we started talking about post-graduation and what I wanted to start a career in. After expressing my passion for writing and my interest in advertising, Ernie mentioned an opportunity at SWB&R. From there, he explained to me his job, the company itself, and the easy-going atmosphere at the office. I’ve always wanted to work with people who loved their job (and voila! they do) and to work on projects that genuinely interested me!

3. What’s your favorite ad right now?
Cigna’s TV Doctors of America advertisement is my current favorite. The advertisement focuses on TV doctors who are telling you to visit a real doctor for your annual checkup (having Patrick Dempsey and Noah Wyle in it made it worth the while.  I’m sure it would have that effect on anything with a pulse (biased opinion). But for real – catchy content and it captured my attention immediately. Plus, it was nice to see familiar faces on the big screen again.

4. What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in college?
You’re going to fail. A lot. You’re going to take a lot of wrong turns, travel down roads that seem like the right direction, only to realize you’re headed for disaster. Buuuuut (there’s a light at the end of this tunnel), you’ll be okay. Because at the end of the day, all of these lessons lead you to the path you’re meant to take. It sounds super cliché, but it’s true. You’ll fail a lot…but you’ll also succeed a lot, too.

5. What are your hobbies?
I am a family enthusiast (since my family is pretty bomb) and I like spending time with those that I love. I am the occasional blogger, an avid doughnut eater and easily one of the biggest homebodies you’ll ever meet. I also like picking things up and putting them down at the gym. OH – Netflix has become one of my three best friends, so there’s that.

I’m cool, I promise.

6. Favorite candy?
Oh gawd. I will never say no to Twix. It’s not possible.

7. What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Christmas!!! Everything about that time of the year makes my heart happy and my family absolutely loves it too. The white lights, the snow, and the presents (obviously)…eve-ry-thing about Christmas is wonderful to me.

Plus, the ridiculous amount of times I watch Home Alone and Elf are always good for the soul. And if you disagree, you sit on a throne of lies.

8. What’s the best show on television?
The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are pure genius. Please, watch them.

9. What’s the most interesting place you’ve ever visited?
Boston. It was honestly the first city I’ve been to and absolutely fell in love with. There is so much history within that city and it doesn’t go unnoticed. My family and I went to the New England Holocaust Memorial there and it was one of the most humbling experiences I’ve ever had.

10. Name one thing on your bucket list.
Write a book…then publish said book.
