Meet Emily! Winter 2017 Creative Intern

Name: Emily Schmid
Hometown: Quakertown, PA
School: Kutztown University
Year: Senior
Major: Communication Design

1. What do you hope to learn during your time with the agency?
I want to learn what it’s like being in the real-world and creating experiences outside of the classroom. Learning more about the different aspects of design, how it’s applied in this field, and ultimately, what the average work day is like at the agency is insight I hope to walk away with.

2. What made you want to intern here?
At the beginning of the school year, our professors talked about the opportunities that would be available to us for internships and the agency caught my eye right away. I had heard a lot of awesome things about the agency and the people working there. I wanted to be close to home and in a city, so the agency was a great mix of both. Plus, the work atmosphere is inviting and having a smaller team really makes it feel like everyone is a family. I love it.

3. What’s your favorite ad right now?
I really enjoy the “Share a Coke” campaign by Coke. They took such a simple idea and made it into a clever, yet personal campaign. It was so cool.

4. What is something you’ve always wanted to try but were too scared to do?
Definitely skydiving. My roommate in college was looking into it (she did it), but I decided not to. Maybe in the future, but we’ll see.

5. What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in college?
The most important thing I’ve learned is definitely time management. Being able to plan accordingly and not wait until last minute is such a crucial thing to do. Plus, learning how to accept the different opportunities you are given because it could turn into something great. You just won’t know until you try.

6. What are your favorite things to do?
I really enjoy just chilling out. Whether it’s shopping, hiking, or watching Netflix, that’s the kind of stuff I like to do.

7. Favorite candy?
Sour Patch Kids and anything chocolate.

8. What’s your favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday would have to be Thanksgiving because sometimes it falls on my birthday. Plus, I really like food and spending time with family.

9. What’s the best show on television?
Ever since college, One Tree Hill became a show that I really loved. But my all-time favorite is Friends — I’ve watched each episode at least 10 times. The entire cast is great, but Rachel and Chandler are definitely my favorites.

10. What’s the most interesting place you’ve ever visited?
I did a school trip where I was able to travel five different countries in the span of two weeks. From Germany to Austria, and a few places in between, Switzerland was my favorite. The food and the views when climbing the mountains were beyond amazing. That is one place I would love to go back to.

11. Name one thing on your bucket list.
I want to travel the world and help people while I’m visiting new places, so a mission trip would be rewarding for me.

12. Dream job?
I love art, designing and being creative, so I really want to be a designer in New York someday. Being able to see my work come to life and have other people see it is the ultimate dream job for me. But for now, I want to begin my journey post-college in Bethlehem or Philadelphia.
